Quantum Radar became reality

The F-22 aircraft is very well known to the people about its stealth, there were no radar that could detect it but that was done by a conventional radar where the microwave was sent by the transmitted and when it gets reflected by the object it is sensed and the object is located but if the signal is weak or the object uses certain technique to scatter the microwave attacking on it the traditional radar becomes useless.
A new Quantum Radar which was one thought to be fictious has been created by the scientists and engineering in the University of York under the guidance of  team led by Dr Stefano Pirandola, of the University's Department of Computer Science and the York Centre for Quantum Technologies, a double cavity device which converts the microwaves into optical waves that are propagated in search of objects.
A nanomechanical oscillator is used for the conversion of microwaves into optical waves, and the optical wave consist of two waves which are strongly correlated with each other, the techniques used is that one wave is directly sent to the receiver and the other is sent in search of an object and of there is anything struck by the wave in its path it is reflected back (even high stealth object reflects very low level of radiation) to the receiver and where it meets the first wave, the defector senses the difference in level of photons of the two waves and this makes it possible to know about the object.
Despite of being a radar technology Dr Stefano Pirandola says that this technique can be used in mri(magnetic resonance imaging) scans where the radiation level will be reduced for the patient and in spectroscopy of proteins and dna.

Jarosite the destroyer of organic compounds

Scientists have been tracing the sign of life in the entire universe to find out is life possible outside earth and so far they are unable to find any trace. Mars is the perfect place where we can look for life and many missions are operating there one very famous curiosity is operating on the surface of Mars looking for signs of life. There is a bad news for the curiosity mission, a new study from the Imperial College of London reveals about a mineral names Jarosite (KFe3+3(SO4)2(OH)6) which destroys the organic compounds which are building blocks of life and are responsible for the development of lifeforms in earth without leaving any trace of it.
Structure of jarosite
The research was conducted in the Imperial College where similar tests were conducted as they were to be done by Curiosity in Mars in which Jarosite on heating breaks down to give oxygen and chlorine gas which inturns react with organic compounds breaking them into carbondioxide and water without leaving traces of Jarosite and organic compounds. If Jarosite is present in the soil of the red planet then it would be impossible to detect evidence of life and it would ruin the entire mission, these research helps the future missions which will be launched in future for deduction of life. But in contrary under normal conditions in earth where Jarosites are present there is life going on in, many bacterias are living in Jarosite environment. The research claims that Jarosite destroys the life forms or organic compounds when it gets heated up and it is possible that Jarosite may be present in Mars soil as it is found in earth.

Pregnancy confirms by odour, lemurs are nature's wonders

There are various stupid method used from ancient times when they try to know the sex of an unborn baby inside of mothers womb, some says it can be jugged from the mom who choose between sweet and sour taste or the shape of the stomach, the month during which sperm was fertilized, the change in the habbits during pregnancy period and many more but with today's advanced technologies such as ultrasound which is not always correct to predict the sex of an unborn child.
A report published in the Duke University journal of 25th February 2015 tells us that lemurs are the only know till date specific which can pridect the sex of the unborn child by noticing the difference in the mother's scent which is different for a boy in the womb than from the girl.
A researcher done on 12 cat like primate(lemur) in the Duke University recording the scent of female lemurs before and during the pregnancy period using spectroscopy and gas chromatography and it showed that the scent of female lemur carrying a son has a simpler scent that contains lesser odour compounds than a normal lemur.
The scientists are not confirmed why the lemurs odour becomes simpler when they carry baby sons but they says that it could be done for energy saving as the hormones need for the development of a male child requires more energy and to save this energy the odour becomes less during pregnancy. This research can also help in knowing the sex of humans more accurately and early as compared to today's technology in near future.

Batteries Can Work Like a GPS : New Studies Reveal the secret behind

Global Positioning System (GPS) is the key technology used today for tracking location of every thing that is connected by a satellite. This is helpful in getting the location through the globe but of we are in a city then using this method in not so handy as the apps which requires GPS permission are risky to use and may not tell the accurate position. A new method of location the people with the help of a mobile app Powerspy which will be soon available in play store will help you in locating without the use of GPS
A new research lead in the Standford University reveales that the position of a person can be tracked by using an android device without using the GPS or any other tracking method, the secret lies just in the batteries of the mobile and it does not require any special permission from the user to track down the locations there are more than 175 android apps which receives battery information and angry birds is one of them . It is just a simple method that the mobile uses more battery power to connect to a signal tower when it is far from it, that is the rate of power consumption is directly proportion to the distance from the tower and the hinderences like building or trees. And an algorithm plots the graph of the data which can be used to track the location via a mobile. The accuracy level may vary upto 100-150 meters which is still less than that of a traditional android GPS system.

Resurrection of 2-stroke Engines : Future of Power

These days 4-stroke engines are backbone of every industry from automobile to aerospace. These engines are good but the power to weight ratio is not so good and even power is delivered at every 3rd stroke in a cycle. If you have an old yamaha motorcycle than you probably know about the 2-stroke engines they were powerful noisy and pollution causing which was the main reason why these 2-stroke engines came to a dead end, these are used today also but at smaller scale compared to 4-stroke. The reason for unpopularity of 2-stroke engines is that they are less efficient to their 4-stroke counterparts as the air fuel mixture does not get completely ignited which causes many effects like less power, knocking effects, pollution etc. despite of the fact that they are cheap, simple, high power to volume ratio 4-stroke is generally preffered.
Several engine makers like Nissan, KTM, are in the verge of resurrecting the 2-stroke engines again with the help of latest technologies and advancement. The new 2 stroke engines which contains several technologies like Direct Fuel Injection, Statified Charge Combustion, latest electronic controls and much more which will deliver high performance and fuel economy without having any issues with stringent emissions. The secret of such high performance of new 2-stroke engines lies in the fact that the highly atomized fuel spray that is injected into the Combustion Chamber towards the end of compression stroke which burns more effectively. The fuel is sprayed after the exhaust valves are closed so that no fresh fuel is wasted which was a big problem in conventional 2-stroke engines.

With stratified combustion the combustion process becomes smooth as the flame is ignited by igniting small amount of air fuel mixture near the spark plug. The advance electronic helps in tracking and optimizing of the engine loaf and controls do that it can be more effective.

Exergy and Energy : Are you familiar

Whenever a geothermal location is chosen for developing a nuclear power plant the first thing that engineering look for it is the available energy or exergy that can be extracred from it.  If you are from engineering background or a real thermodynamics lover you might be knowing what energy is if not this small article will help you to know some basics about energy and energy.
Energy is also known as the ability to do work or perform task, energy follows the law of conservation and it cannot be created nor be destroyed but can only be transformed from one form to another. Like you can transform work into heat and heat into electricity and vice versa but Cannot produce any energy on own however the quality of energy differs time to time somewhere it may be a high grade energy which is the energy which is capable of producing more power and low grade energy which is of the same magnitude as the high grade energy but cannot have much power producing capacity. Energy is present in every atom of every material but it depends on the vibrations and the state on atoms to which amount it produces energy.

Exergy is a part of energy but it differs from energy in the fact that it is only the useful energy or available energy capable of producing work, as energy can be useful energy(exergy)or useless energy(anergy). Exergy can be understood well by taking example of a heat engine cycle, we all know a that work can only be produced In a cycle if heat is exchange to a two temperature reservoir if heat is taken from high temperature reservoir and some heat is rejected to low temperature reservoir which is also energy but useless energy(anergy)and some energy which produces work to derive the shaft or turbine is the Useful Energy or Exergy. Our environment is full of energy but at any certain time it's Exergy is zero because no work output can be obtained from it.

Advertising in the Space : New Era of Advertisements

Advertising has long been a method to attract the consumer. The first advertisement has been even before a century ago but now the trend has changed the advertisement are not even global they seems to be intergalactical, which means to place an advertisement into the spacs so that even aliens can know what humans can sell.
Taking man to moon was a great leap for mankind but a Japanese beverage maker Otsuka is sending a 1 kilogram titanium can filled with powdered sports drink and children's dreams to the moon in probably October 2015. The specially designed canister, which contains a shipment of Otsuka's Pocari Sweat powder, will mark a disturbing new frontier for humanity: the first commercial product delivered to another world for marketing purposes. The motto of company is that this would encourage the children to become astronauts and would help in generating more revenues.
This is how it feels

This is not at all the last in the year 2016 KU Leuven University in Belgium with the help of European Space Agency is planning to launch first ever billboard into the space with personal messages and ads from big companies like Microsoft, Google. A small satellite will be used to display the ads as these will not be visible from earth but can be seen through website which will display the live feedback from the satellite.
And who knows you may be next person to place your ads into the space. For any quarries comment below.

Kraftwrek a POWER FULL revolution

These days power banks are the first accessorie used for smartphones they require a lot time to get charge and limited current storage so that they can give you one or two charge for your smartphone or ipod but is it enough are you happy with it if not there is a technological boom in the field of power generation without causing harm to environment.

A new device know as kraftwrek which is a self power generator which produces electricity for smartphones and tablets runs without any electrical charging it gives you the freedom from the conventional wall charging socket and can charge phones and tablets with usb. It uses natural gas butane, lpg or lighter gas to produce electricity inside a small device which is claimed to be the smallest power generation product. The idea about the device came into existence in 2008 when someone engineering and scientists started this project and today it is reality it will be available by the end of this year.
The gas inside the container runs a fuel cell which comprises of an electrode and cathode generating electricity. Once filled with gas this can charge 11 iPhone as claimed by the company and takes less than 5 second to fill it up. For electricity generation the gas gets heated upto couple of hundred degree Celsius so a good thermal insulation is provided to ensure safety of the product and the user.

Helping Physical Challenged people with technology

It is said that engineering has changed human life, yes it has and it is one step closer giving life again to the paralysed and physically disabled persons giving them one chance to live a normal life.
Esko skeleton is one such device that helps physically challenged people, it is a skeleton which is worn on human body. It is a powered device which using various sensors and complex algorithm to run smoothly. It catches the human neurotransmited signal which tells the muscle to move and it adjusts it's position relative to the ground. The skeleton even helps totally paralysed person to walk. This is not all the skeleton does despite helping the physically challenged people the skeleton can provide extra power to an ordinary man to do daily work with ease, some skeleton can help is picking up heavy weights for hikers and mountaineers in their journey. This is not all the development done in this field USA has been able to creat a real Iron man suit which we will discuss in some other blog. These technologies are playing vital role in helping humans in every aspect and hope this continues forever

The biggest engineering challenges ever

Tunnels have always been part of life connecting one place to another they have been constructed underground, through the mountains and the most amazing place beneath the water. Thames tunnel was the first such tunnel which was built in the late 19th century and the latest is Japan's Seikan tunnel which extends 54 kilometer long connecting Hokkaido Island to Aomori Prefecture. China is planning to build the world's longest tunnel by 2020 which will be over 120kilometer, it will be an engineer challenge for China.Building underwater tunnels requires high level of precise engineering and plans which are to be executed properly. These all tunnels are built or yet to be built seemes possible with our knowledge of science and engineering.
The red line shows the tunnel below ocean surface

There is one project that will challenge all our knowledge and skills know as the Transatlantic Tunnel. It seems good only in papers the 5000 kilometer underwater tunnel in Atlantic Ocean connecting London with New York will allow the to travel only is 40 minutes or more much faster than airplane. This project has been in highlights many times a movie is also there but the main problem lies in our knowledge of science and engineering. It is yet a hypothetical project but if we start building it right now it will be the most extreme challenge every. In the 20th century telegraph wires were laid down on Atlantic Ocean bed and it was not a big deal but to construct such tunnel on ocean bed is nearly impossible as the bed is not levelled there are trenches and the depth is uneven so this can only be solved by building it in the middle of surface and bed but it should be still at one place and should not submerged into water so it has to be tightened to the ocean floor by cables. Now comes the material used for construction, we have been able to creat strong alloy of titanium and other metals suitable for such very small scale operation but it is beyond our courage to produce such strong material to build 5000 kilometer long tunnel it's vastness can be calculated if we use steel it would take all the steel produced by humans in an year without using steel for any other operations. Steel is not corrosion resistance material and sea water promote corrosion at the highest rate so it would be a big deal to overcome the corrosion effects. The next big challenge lies in the technique used for construction in water. The traditional technique used a pipe inside which construction is done and then pipe is removed but for 5000 kilometer it won't work. Time duration plays a major role it is estimated that at least 50years will take for this project to complete. The most important is money it is sure that considering 100 billion $ will be the least purposed amount and it will go on increasing. These are the major challenge only in construction from the point of an engineering. The list will go on increasing. It is not an impossible but not for our generation.
